Americans Don't Trust Each Other Anymore -  KEEP CALM, CARRY ON  but TRUST NO ONE

Only ONE-THIRD (33%) of Americans trust most people, according to the latest annual General Society Survey. That's the lowest on record, down from 50% trust in 1972.

The AP-GfK poll conducted last month found that Americans are suspicious of each other in everyday encounters. Less than one-third expressed a lot of trust in clerks who swipe their credit cards, drivers on the road, or people they meet when traveling. Add their own President to the list.while you're at it. Obama has the lowest favorable rating now of any president since Nixon. DO YOU TRUST THIS MAN, even if he is your president?

Do You Trust This Man?

Some blame the decreasing social interactions in society on the trust factor , which could also account for the problems of late in Washington, where are leaders can rarely seem to come together anymore.  And, it looks like no turnaround is in site, as the decreasing trust  has been
a continuing pattern since the survey began a half century ago.

Maybe the  famous old World War II Poster should be updated to 'KEEP CALM, CARRY ON
but TRUST NO ONE'shorted to 'KEEP CALM and TRUST NO ONE.'  You'll probably live a smarter and Healthier, Richer and HAPPIER LIFE doing so today.

Americans Don't Trust Each Other Anymore -  KEEP CALM, CARRY ON  but TRUST NO ONE

And...there's always the old version , when, even in war, there wasn't so much worry about TRUST.:

KEEP CALM and CARRY ON

Motivational Poster, Tshirts,

Bumper Stickers

Even more popular today, Keep Calm and Carry On was a motivational poster produced by the British government in 1939 several months before the beginning of the Second World War, intended to raise the morale of the British public in the aftermath of widely predicted mass air attacks on major cities It had only limited distribution with no public display, and thus was little known. It was rediscovered in 2000, has been re-issued by a number of private companies, and has been used as the decorative theme for a range of products. It was believed there were only two known surviving examples of the poster outside government archives^[3] until a collection of 20 originals was brought in to the Antiques Roadshow in 2012 by the daughter of an ex-Royal Observer Corps member ^(wikipedia)

VETERANS DAY at LAFAYETTE CROSSES, Lafayette,California

'LAFAYETTE CROSSES' PROVIDE  DIFFERENT PLATFORMS  FOR  DIFFERENT  EXPRESSIONS

Some years ago a Lafayette couple took liberty to erect hundreds of crosses on a hillside they owned yet which fronted a busy street , freeway and subway system (BART). It was an extreme way to protest war and the 5,000 plus dead soldiers from the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. At first, the act met with much scorn by locals who didn't want to have to pass by a faux gravesite everyday on their way to work. But there was nothing in the local law - at the time -that prevented the couple from not only what they'd already done but adding more crosses to the hillside. A 'grandfather'clause allowed the crosses to remain, since the land had been purchased some time earlier. The   idea was to put up a wooden cross for each soldier who had died in the Irag and Afghanistan wars.
Now, with nearly 7,000 soldiers lost to the wars, the hillside is pretty full  .  The hope is that very soon there will be no more need for more crosses as the Afghanistan War winds down.

Eventually, the 'Lafayette Crosses' took on a life of their own and even became a kind of retreat  for people who had lost loved ones or others who   wanted to share in their anti-war feelings. Every Memorial Day and Veterans Day now   the Crosses  have become a gathering place where people of different leanings listen to speakers while some remember their own loved while others pay tribute to  our departed soldiers. Leaders made a point to mention that the Crosses were intended for all persuasions and ethnic groups and include Jewish Stars, Crescents as well as colored crosses for different races and sexual choices.

As Veterans Day became night,    a small throng of 50-100 gathered at the now infamous Lafayette Crosses. Despite the notoriety,  there were probably more speakers and members of the media than there were townsfolks. But, those who were there seemed to enjoy the messages, one from a 'poet,' another from a state senator and   a song from a self-proclaimed troubadour among others. Even a small band of musicians played patriotic songs  between speakers. Though one of the 'leaders' stressed that the occasional hillside events are intended to be politically 'neutral' one couldn't help but hear left-leaning sentiment among the talks. But, all in  all, it was a peaceful event, perhaps the only local Veterans Day 'service' outside of cemeteries. Even major network media - ABC,NBC and local KRON TV helped fill the tiny strip in front of the crosses with trucks and TV cameras and reporters.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILLY GRAHAM, Inspirational Talk from 1998

11-7-13 HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the leading US religious figure of our time, BILLY GRAHAM, 95 years young. Here is a talk from 1998 speaking at a technology conference near San Jose, CA He says that it's not technology that's the problem but the people using it. He also talks about death and the myth today that technology will keep us alive. People never think of dying anymore as they view youthful images on screen, rarely older ones..'The greatest surprise is the brevity of life... but it does not have to be that way' depending on how one believes...specifically one's believe in faith and God... http://youtu.be/90mj79GqWhc New ROAD TO SUCCESS STORE - featuring Reviews of 'Success' Motivational Multi-media - Books, Music, Movies, Posters
